We're well into November now and fall is in full swing. Fall is one of my favorite times of year: pumpkin spice everything, the start of all the best holidays, cute boots, hot cocoa, bundling up in cozy sweaters...
Okay, wait. That last one, while accurate, is also somewhat tougher to pull off in Florida where it can still hover somewhere around 80 degrees up through December. But living in the sunshine doesn't mean you can't embrace kick-ass fall style! Check out our tips for owning Florida fall style below!
-lightweight fabrics in deep fall colors
One of the easiest ways to work in some fall is easy, light pieces (similar to what you'd wear in spring/summer) in pretty fall colors. Teal, rust, aubergine, and olive are all beautiful and almost universally flattering. One of our go-to pieces is these faux suede shorts. Beautiful, warm weather-friendly and easy to take from day to night.
Incorporating different textures into your wardrobe! Think pieces that look and feel luxurious, but aren't going to feel too heavy. Velvet and faux suede are our picks. Velvet is soft and statement-worthy, but still breathable enough to keep you cool, while faux suede is a classic that'll lend a little elegance to any look.
Oh, we love some light layers. Start with an easy base - a slip dress or shorts and a tank - and then throw on a bomber jacket or something in a great faux leather. Another jacket (and wardrobe staple) we love is a great raincoat. This blush Minkpink jacket is ideal - it's light, functional, and so cute. Plus, who doesn't appreciate a great lining and a secret pocket??
-open knit sweaters
That's right, even sweaters are doable. The trick is to look for lighter fabrics and an open knit. They'll keeps you comfortable while still keeping you cozy and giving off serious fall vibes.
